worn out

end of year in first grade

First grade sweetie--This is why I can keep getting up in the morning!

I noticed one student has applauded for the past few weeks when he sees me walking outside with the class, whistle hanging around my neck, to do my weekly 20-minute playground duty for 160 first and second graders.  He seems so happy about it, so today I said, "Are you glad when I'm outside with the class?"  He said, "Yes, I'm glad that YOU'RE getting a break, too!"

Ha!---some day he'll know the truth, but for now I'll let him think it's a break for me too!

How cute!  My kids a few years ago thought I pulled a bed out of the closet and slept at school.  They wanted to know where I took my baths.

About emptynester

This coming year will be my 31st year of teaching. I like my job, but I am becoming increasingly tired and worn out at certain times of the year like May, September, and December. I hope to talk to other teachers to help me keep charged up so I can do my best for my remaining years of teaching. We have a lot of poverty in our area, so we have an increasing number of special ed students and child abuse incidences.
